Narcissistic Chazz Michaels managed to achieve fame and recognition as a professional figure skater. The man has a personal fan club, which greatly flatters his ego. The only thing Michael lacks is winning the World Championship. The main obstacle on the way to the coveted title is the prodigy Jimmy McElroy, who was raised in an orphanage.
The enmity between the unsurpassed masters reached a climax when the main characters, unable to cope with emotions, staged an "ice battle" during the awarding ceremony at international competitions. The conflict situation on the ice ended with the fact that both athletes were stripped of their awards and disqualified for life in single skating. Having been banned from doing what they love, the couple gradually sank to the very bottom of society. Almost never coming out of a binge, Chazz is forced to earn extra money at children's matinees, and his former opponent got a job at a sports store.
