As a result of a secret ritual, the lord of dreams Morpheus is captured by the occultist. After 70 years, he manages to escape. In his absence, the world has changed a lot. Now Morpheus has to regain his former strength, revive his kingdom and understand how he himself has changed.
An American fantasy television series from Netflix, based on the comic book of the same name published by DC Comics, authored by Neil Gaiman. It premiered on August 5, 2022.
The literary basis of the script was Neil Gaiman's comic book of the same name. His hero is the lord of the realm of dreams, Morpheus, who is captured by the sorcerer Roderick Burgess, but later breaks free.
The first attempts to film Gaiman's "Sandman" date back to 1991. Netflix signed a contract to produce the series in June 2019, and filming began in October 2020 — later than planned, due to the coronavirus pandemic. The main role went to Tom Sturridge. In January 2021, it became known that Taron Edgerton joined the project.
The series premiered in August 2022. At the same time, information appeared in the media about the beginning of work on the second season.
In general, the film is not bad, the reviews after viewing are excellent.
