StoryLine :
Shortly after the First World War, Ernest Burkhart, who served in France as a cook, comes to look for luck in Oklahoma, where there is a large reservation of Osage Indians. His uncle William Hale lives in those parts, who is nicknamed the King — he is a landowner, a cattle farmer, a friend of the Indians and a big man. The King convinces Ernest to woo Molly Kyle, a young woman from a wealthy Indian family. The idea is that the land rights of this family eventually passed to Burkhardt (read to Hale), and for this, Molly's mother, her sisters and herself just have to die.
